The Lord Chancellor, after consultation with the Lord Chief Justice, has approved the re-appointment of Gabriella Bettiga as a member of the Tribunal Procedure Committee (TPC) for 3 years from 2 May 2021.

Gabriella Bettiga is a practising immigration and asylum consultant solicitor and accredited at Level 3 Advanced Caseworker since 2010. She specialises in EEA applications and appeals, nationality law and applications for entry clearance and in country, both within the immigration rules and based on human rights.

Since 2008, Gabriella has been involved with the Women’s Advisory Committee of Asylum Aid, specifically providing advice on gender issues within the context of immigration. In 2012. she became a trustee of the charity.

Gabriella has declared no political activity.

TPC was established on 19 May 2008, under the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act (TCEA) 2007, to make rules governing practice and procedure in the First-tier and Upper Tribunals. The TPC is responsible for nine sets of Tribunal Rules, covering 11 Chambers in the Unified Tribunals System. The subject matter of the appeals heard in those Chambers includes immigration, tax, mental health and transport.

This reappointment to TPC is made under Paragraph 21 of Schedule 5) of the TCEA and is regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments
